CHEAP THRILLS

I’m not sure I can even count for you the amount of times people have told me that when they first meet me, their impression of me is that I am a bitch or a snob. It always takes me aback, no matter how many times I’ve heard it. (Maybe in my own mind I pretend I am a nice person and I am kidding myself. Who knows?) Whenever I’ve asked people why they first thought that about me, I’ve always been told it’s simply the impression I give. I’ll admit I’m shy and quiet, but it still eludes me. I grew up in a small town with very humble beginnings, I’ve worked incredibly hard to earn everything I have in life, I don’t give a shit about labels – thrift shopping for old clothing is one of my most favorite things – I prefer life south of Shaw (Fresno peeps know what I mean), and I am more likely to be found drinking vodka in a parking lot out of my friend Katie’s water bottle than a martini in a lounge (although I can mix up a killer dirty martini, thanks). So CHEAP THRILLS is a fun, tongue-in-cheek ode to this part of my life, a silly response to my friends that WAIT, I am down to dance on a bar in cowboy boots (there is photographic evidence of this somewhere), I’ll never judge you since I don’t want to be judged, and let’s just have fun – I don’t need dollar bills to do that. I LOVE CHEAP THRILLS. And I love Sia’s music, so how could I not paint one of my favorite songs of hers?
