WAITING FOR THE SUN
Another tribute to The Doors, WAITING FOR THE SUN piggybacks off of THE HEART WANTS WHAT IT WANTS. When you let go of all of the rest of it, there’s just waiting. For me this painting was about waiting for a new day to dawn after a long time in darkness. It’s loneliness, it’s longing, it’s hope and potential, it’s stagnancy and frustration, it’s love waiting to come alive, it’s one half searching for its counterpart. “Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting ... waiting for you to come along ... waiting for you to hear my song ...” I’m at a loss as to what else to really say about this piece, perhaps because the concept is so simple, the meaning behind it so singular and pure in its approach. There was a caged fury behind my waiting, as you can see; but at the end of the day, it’s a visual representation of the impatience you feel waiting for the arrival of the first rays of the morning sun after the longest, darkest night out in the cold.
